This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have the best students in the school and possibly in the district. I know a lot of teachers say this, but I am blessed to have a bunch of amazing leaders in my class. We have brought our school closer by bringing everyone together. This is my second year as an advisor for Student Council and I believe that they have bonded with not only me, but with our school.

My students are leaders in the school and they show it with their 7 habits of leadership!

Student council has many activities planned for the years to come, but we just need to get started. Our first order of business is to make us look professional and unison. My students not only are leaders in our school, but they are counted on for many activities in the school and community. My students finally can call their school their home.

My Project

Due to the COVID pandemic that hit in the 2019-2020 school year, our school was shut down and remained shut the following school year. We finally opened fully this school year 2021-2022. This is my 2nd full year as the advisor for Student Council also known as Leadership and all of the supplies we had from previous advisors were completely ruined or damaged due to age of product and not being properly stored. That ranged from paint, to paint brushes, to cameras, film, props, paper, glue, any food we used to sell at lunches and so many other items. We have been working with broken paint brushes, old paint and trying to stretch out our budget to make our school amazing. My leadership kids deserve better and so does the school.

My students are the leaders in our school.

We throw assemblies, dances, have fundraisers, run events, volunteer, collect food donations, clothing donations and personal hygiene donations. We take care of our community and our school and it has been extremely hard to do with the little items we have left to work with. We create posters for our school using butcher paper and paint, sharpies, markers and other items that we can find. The circuit machine that is on our wish list will help expedite those projects making them look neat and organized. We would be able to create projects to sell and items for our class to wear and be proud of!

Our school needs to feel like a family again and we are slowly stepping in that direction. We want our students to be proud of their school. We start here and build our community leaders in this class.
