Help me give my students an iPad to work on their math and science assignments. Also, snacks, stickers, and puzzle erasers as rewards for doing a great job!
My students are attending our school in Mansfield. The focus of our school is to prepare the students for either going to college or into a career after high school.
My students are eager to learn the concepts being taught this year.
In middle school, we are increasing the topics being taught. Having some extra motivation hopefully helps to increase their retention of knowledge and helps them to exceed expectations this year.
My Project
Coming back to school this year for many that have been in virtual school for over a year has been difficult for many students. One area that I have found that motivates students is technology! There are so many math games that students can use to help practice the skills that they need without being a boring worksheet.
Students can use the iPad on programs like IXL to GIMKIT and grow in the skills that will help them be successful.
My hope with students getting more practice is that they will become more confident in what they know. As they grow, they will be able to take those skills and help to set them up for the rest of their schooling career.
Rewards for working on their assignments has been useful for the students who are not currently intrinsically motivated to do a good job. Knowing they will get rewarded for doing a good job has helped some students work more than before. My goal for the snacks, stickers, and puzzle erasers is to set up a reward system for completing assignments and they can earn points to help them buy different rewards. So not only is it a reward but it is also extending the math lessons!
Thank you for considering to help my classroom get these items!
