Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a high poverty school, where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch! I have high expectations that they will grow and learn beyond what is expected.

School is a safe and happy place for my students.

Each day, they come into the classroom excited about the day and spending time exploring and learning together. For many of my students, being at school is the best part of their day.

My Project

Bringing the zoo straight into my classroom with the Zoo Classroom Transformation. This will be a great way to incorporate animals in learning objectives. A great way for students to learn different math and reading skills. The students will become a zookeeper for a day while they practice tricky first grade concepts. The animal backdrop will hang in my classroom to make it feel more like a zoo. Every student will also wear a zoo animal mask, safari hat, and get binoculars. The plastic zoo animals will be scattered throughout the classroom with math and reading challenges with each animal. The zoo keeper will answer the challenge when checking on each animal.
