My Students

My students encompass the entire school because I am in the library and I cater to the needs of the whole school. They are learning to be self-sufficient researchers and individuals. Their ages range between 11 and 14 and their abilities range across their age span. Our students are working toward becoming responsible and self-sufficient humans. Students come to the library for a variety of reasons, but opening up the space for students to consider this area as more than just checking out books is a priority for me.

My Project

This will help make the library space feel more creative. Many students come to the library to find new books, work on homework, and hang out with their friends. Creating inviting spaces that promote creativity and curiosity is one the ways in which we as librarians foster to the needs of our students. Finding ways to make eye-catching displays, interactive shelving, and make the library an interesting place is important for keeping the library central to the school. When students feel that the space is inviting and a place where they see themselves represented, they are more likely to come!
