My students are hard working third graders. They are experiencing a year like no other, yet they make no excuses and work hard each and every day. We work through our problems and promote a safe and creative space to engage in learning.
My students are sons and daughters of the working class essential workers.
These families face many economic struggles, but they never give up. Our parents instill in their children a desire to learn, a respect for teachers and a love for this country.
These students encourage me to give 100% each day because I expect they same from them.
My Project
We all have a song within ourselves. These ukuleles will help bring out that song from the minds and hearts of our students. I envision a curriculum that merges the study of Language Arts with the healing power of music and expression. I will teach basic chords and scales. Within no time my students will be playing four chord songs. Throughout the year we will be learning different grammatical concepts and they will be reinforced through music. Our students have spent so much time learning in front of an electronic device. They need more opportunities to unplug. They need music. Help thing sing their song.
