Every day, I have the privilege of being able to see two dozen smiling students, eager and ready to learn. I teach in an urban school with students from a wide range of backgrounds. After over a year of remote learning, my students have made the switch to hybrid learning. Providing appropriate tools to reach students where they are is more important than ever!
While large chunks of the school day don't look quite the same as they did a year ago, my third graders still LOVE recess.
We are fortunate to be able to take short outdoor breaks as well as our assigned recess time.
My Project
In the era of COVID, even recess has to look a little different. My third graders are unable to use the playground equipment due to social distancing from other classes. While they can play on the concrete and turf, they are in need of new, fun, and individual activities that are active and safe.
This project will provide each of my young learners with a jump rope, sidewalk chalk, and bubbles to help make recess more active and engaging!
Students can practice jump rope techniques to boost physical activity. They can use chalk to play hopscotch, draw, and be creative. Finally, bubbles are calming, and students can chase the bubbles they blow for themselves or their classmates.
With these simple, favorite outdoor items, students can get moving and get creative during recess. Thank you for helping my young learners!
