In my classroom, we have students from all over the world. They bring with them their family histories, their stories and cultures, and of course their amazing personalities. Although distance learning has made things different, we have grown to really respect and care for one another. Now that we are moving to in-person learning we are hoping to get our classroom back in working order and fully stocked with all the things we need to help us be successful.
I hope to not only provide my students with quality learning materials but also quality social-emotional experiences.
My students are so bright, funny, sweet, and respectful and the least I can do is give them a space that really feels like their own. As they re-enter the classroom after being gone for over a year I hope to invite them back into a space that feels safe and full of life. A place they look forward to being everyday, somewhere that inspires them to learn and grow!
As a new teacher, I am slowly collecting my own classroom materials to help my students succeed. Right now I am fully focused on our classroom library. I've been endlessly researching the best way to organize our library in order for students to feel confident in finding the books that interest them. Now that I know how to set it up, I need books to fill the shelves. Many of the books currently in our room are old, beat up, and of little interest to my students.
Having relevant texts that interest students will allow them to confidently and independently choose books and encourage a love for reading.
I can't wait to see my students grow their own passion for reading. Students that read more books will have a better chance of catching up from this past years learning loss. What better way to do that than having a fully stocked classroom library!
