This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My preschoolers are energetic, eager to learn, and love exploring new games and materials! I teach in a public school in an urban neighborhood and we have a very diverse group of young learners who bring so many different strengths and experiences to our room.

This has been a very challenging school year for parents, students, and teachers alike due to the pandemic.

We are currently teaching under a hybrid model and are doing our best to provide a safe and nurturing environment for our in-person learners!

My Project

As we come to the end of this very challenging school year, we are embarking on a gardening study with our in-person and remote learners. While our in-person learners have access to many rich, hands-on experiences, our remote learners often struggle to remain engaged.

These materials will help our young preschoolers discover the world around them while they stay safe at home!

We are starting a gardening unit that will help students practice a variety of important skills including making predictions, observing, recording data, and measuring. We hope to provide them with seeds, soil, and other materials so that they can watch the magic of plants and flowers growing at home! We also want to provide them with art supplies so that they can demonstrate their learning through a variety of media. We have sent home supplies in the past, and they have really helped our students connect with each other and remain more enthusiastic about learning.

We are also requesting a wide variety of bilingual books to help students learn more about our study both online and in-person! We are so grateful for any support that you can offer!
