Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
I am the only school counselor for over 600 amazing students. Ninety percent of our students are Latino, and 76% are from low-income families. About 11% of our students are considered special needs. Our students are bright and creative and come from hard-working, loving families that want to see their children succeed.
Not being physically in school has been a challenge for many students, families, and teachers, but we are all trying the best we can with what we have.
My Project
We are fortunate to have a library filled with amazing social and emotional books that provide students with the opportunity to develop and strengthen their social skills. These books range in topics from managing their emotions to family-related topics, such as divorce. When students are in crisis, I share these stories with them to help them overcome whatever obstacle they are facing. But sometimes, it takes us a little longer than we'd like to find the perfect story.
Books bins are essential in organizing a classroom library and will allow us to be more efficient and tidy.
We will use the bins to organize the books by topic saving us time and making it easier for us to find that perfect book.
