Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students at my school face day to day challenges that many people never have to experience. They come from high crime rate neighborhoods, low-income households, and single-parent families where they have the responsibility of helping care for and raise their younger siblings. COVID-19 brought a whole new set of challenges, as many were without internet or even a computer device to participate and complete assignments remotely.
Despite these challenges, when students come to school, I want them to have a classroom that feels warm, safe, and inviting!
My Project
A new classroom rug, powerstrip, and ink cartridge helps complete our classroom. The powerstrip will help students to charge their chromebooks when they are not using them (which are needed for most classes due to the fact that students are learning from home and in class at the same time by the same teacher). New ink, will allow me to print specific assignments to help limit students in person screen time. And a computer stand will help me manage the multiple devices needed to teach each day.
A new rug makes the classroom environment one in which students want to be a part.
