Our students are some of the most amazing special education students that you'd ever meet. Our classes are a language and learning disabilities, self-contained class. School closures have separated students from teachers, counselors, and other staff members who can support them during important developmental transitions. Despite these circumstances, our students are doing their best to learn from home and we want to reward them.
Covid 19 has really impacted all of my students and despite their variety of circumstances they try their best to log on ready to learn and add to the class on a daily basis.
Hybrid learning is now taking place in our district so it's so much fun to have kids working out in class and virtually now.
This project will allow me to provide encouragement through incentives for my Special Education group. These gift cards will be given as a way to praise students for perfect attendance and performing well. I'm hoping that these gift cards will help boost their social-emotional well-being as a way to show them how proud we are of them. Showing up is half the battle working out their minds and bodies helps keep students active in ways that they aren't participating in unless you're keeping it interesting.
Research has shown that throughout this pandemic students have been less motivated to keep their bodies moving.
These gift cards for PBIS will increase participation and motivation! Since hybrid learning is finally taking place in our district we get to work out virtually and in person with those students that can come into school. Full-bodied, full minds, and full hearts will help to learn tremendously. In order to keep them safe, they can use these gift cards online and they will be sent to the students. It will also be a way to teach our students responsible ordering and eating choices that can be made both in-person and online.
