Many of my fourth-grade students are faced with several challenges of coming from other countries and high poverty. My students come from a variety of different cultures and backgrounds. I would like my students to have creative, safe and meaningful learning experiences in school. As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are also diverse in their academics. My students work very hard to meet their goals; they are amazing and curious. They are very eager to learn new things.
My Project
Students in my fourth-grade class are very civic-minded. They enjoy discussing current events and how they could help make the world a better place. Scholastic News will be used digitally to enhance discussion and create projects from the magazine's topics. They enjoy talking about things they could do in their community to improve it. They have read about kids their age taking civic action in their community and thought of ideas on how they could help.
Having Scholastic Magazine will help fertilize the children's ideas and dreams to help their community thrive.
Using Scholastic News with my students will help inform the student and their families of what is happening in the world and how their opinion matters.
