This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
I teach grades 7 through 12 in a large city school. At my school 46% of our students are considered to be low-income and our student body is ethnically diverse. Five percent of students have special education plans that utilize inclusion and pull-out programs.
At this time, there are approximately 1,000 students taking music classes.
These classes include piano, band, orchestra, choir, music theory, guitar, and music appreciation. I teach a diverse group of students who represent every ethnic group, religion, and economic status. I am very proud of how they come together to perform such beautiful music. They work hard and are eager to learn and succeed.
Only a handful of students can participate in private lessons outside of school, and many have limited exposure to professional performances. I try to give my students everything they need to be successful in music. Working with my school community and grant writing is an essential part of my funding.
My Project
My class in now participating in Hybrid Instruction where students coming to class for part of the week to participate in in-person instruction, and Virtual instruction where students are logging into classes for on-line instruction. The difficulty is that my class does not have sufficient technology to really pull this off successfully. Currently, I am teaching at home one day a week and teaching at school four days a week. My home set-up is working nicely because I have a three monitor set-up.
The monitors I have at school are very old and will not connect to my school laptop because they only accept VGA plugs.
I need a modern HDMI monitor that will connect to my laptop. This will allow me to toggle between multiple screens, which is very helpful when I am utilizing the google classroom suite. This will be helpful for my hybrid in class students because they they will be able to participate in the online lessons along with virtual students. The monitor will also allow me to present information to the students using different screens. The lessons that I am implementing are all digital and computer centered, so this technology will really help my students. Sorry for all the technical jargon, but we really need your help!
