Our middle school is a special kind of school where students are encouraged to use mindfulness, movement, and creativity to incorporate learning using the whole child method. My students come from a low socio-economic background with many deficits and need encouragement and a variety of strategies to help overcome these deficits.
My Project
Our middle school is a special kind of school where students are encouraged to use mindfulness, movement, and creativity to incorporate learning using the whole child method. My students come from a low socioeconomic background with many deficits and need encouragement and a variety of strategies to help overcome these deficits.
Students will create projects using Wikki Stix based on concepts learned in class.
By giving students Wikki Stix, they will have an outlet to express their creativity by producing a final product based on informational text. This mindfulness activity allows students to take a break from the traditional essay writing by demonstrating their knowledge with a final hands-on activity.
This project creates a much needed brain break for my students to practice inquiry through their own self-directed learning.
Since we are have had an extremely difficult year of learning, this project provides an opportunity for students to finalize their learning through an art project.
