My students are scheduled to go back to school in September. If someone is diagnosed with the Coronavirus, the class will be required to quarantine. At some point, our school may shut down as it did last March. We just don't know what the future will look like.
I would like to provide my preschoolers with similar learning materials at school and at home to allow for a smooth transition of learning between our classroom and remote learning.
I teach in a preschool classroom in a public school. It is comprised of two half-day blended classrooms. Each classroom has a mix of both three- and four-year-olds. There are 15 students in each class that includes both regular and special education students.
My students are eager to learn and play. Our school is limited in funding for materials. We are considered low-income with 93% of our students receiving free lunches. Ten percent of our students are considered English language learners.
My Project
I found play dough that does not dry up!!! And if you don't that it is a big deal, let me tell you that as a former kindergarten and now a preschool teacher, it is! The dough is called Mad Mattr Super-Soft Modelling Dough Compound.
The clay is much softer and easier to manipulate yet still provides the child with the necessary fine motor practice.
The preschoolers love this clay and want to use it again and again! When I try to give them the traditional, after a few times, it becomes very hard to manipulate. This soft dough is always easy to use and the children love to make shapes, numbers, letters, and of course their own creative designs!
