Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students are amazing and resilient. Many are immigrants or from immigrant families. Many are affected by being homeless and by neighborhood violence, but come to school every day ready to learn. In a neighborhood where violence is an everyday part of life, school becomes so much more than just a place to learn. The students in my classroom recognize the value of an education as a means to a positive future and, hopefully someday, a safer community as well.
My students are English language learners in an urban neighborhood.
School is their safe haven and a place where they can focus on a positive future. They are eager to learn and take pride in the investment of others in their education.
My Project
Most of my students will continue to learn remotely for the remainder of the school year. In order to make it easier for us to practice nonfiction reading with paired texts I am hoping to fund a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card. These paired texts will allow student to share their reading experience together no matter where they are learning from. Despite the unique learning environment this year my students have formed a strong community. I know they will enjoy these reading passages together as we close out our school year.
