Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My first grade class is full of 22 fun-loving kids who are full of energy. The students are an amazing group of kiddos from the Chicagoland area. They are excited about school and learning. They are a mix of 6 and 7 year-olds who are loving their adventure in school.
Our students are eager and excited to learn and try new things on a daily basis.
They are on their way to becoming lifelong lovers of learning. They attend a Chicago public school. We are one of the many low-income schools where a majority of our students receive free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch.
My Project
Our new unit takes us to the great unknown-Space! We are asking for books, models and more to start our exploration of the Sun, Moon and Space!
With these science model kits, solar system stress balls, solar system t-shirt, and the books, my students can explore hands-on science through visual learning.
This allow my students to touch, experiment, and use their critical thinking skills to enhanced their learning. With these items, I will continue to teach them the scientific method of observation, asking questions, forming a hypothesis, drawing conclusion, and testing results of their predictions.
With the hands-on materials my students will be be able to experience our universe and solar system. The solar system model will give them a visual of what they can explore in space. My students are fascinated by STEM and space, and I look forward to giving them this hands on experience.
