Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students are inclusive special education students who benefit from full-day inclusion with their peers.
The diverse students range in severity from autism, fragile X syndrome, downs syndrome, and developmental delays.
They are eager to learn and enjoy making a happy day for everyone. They are learning social skills and personal skills that will be needed for lifetime learning and living.
My students love to learn and we are working on them to take ownership of their learning by becoming more independent and working with each other on daily tasks.
My students come from low income households, and deserve the best in their learning and education.
My Project
Our students beginning 4th quarter will have an opportunity to come back for hybrid learning. Currently, we do not have headphones for those returning to be able to attend to live meets and interact with their peers. Headphones for our in-person students are vital for them to keep connections with friends they have made virtually online with remote learning and will also ensure that all students will have a learning environment with no extra feedback or background noise disrupting learning.
Early Childhood Special Education students require a lot of assessment and quick access to assessments for teachers and students in an easy and inconspicuous manner.
An iPad mini will be perfect for myself and my special education assistant to utilize easy access assessments to do with students in small group settings, play-based settings, and outside settings that won't require us to lug around a large laptop or have to walk to our desk to our desktop computer. It also is more inconspicuous so students cannot see that we are "actually" assessing them, but that we are just playing with them.
Technology is a part of education and it will not be going away anytime soon. By allowing teachers an easier way to log data and by allowing less distractions with headphones for student learning, it makes the day go much smoother and gives a better learning environment for everyone involved.
