This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Hard working , adaptable, compassionate, diligent and reliable are just a few words used to describe my students. Hearing those adjectives, it is hard to imagine they attend a school where 96% of students are classified as low income. Given that fact, they don't let it hinder their education.
I teach at a neighborhood school where low-income does not equate to low-academics.
Because of their dedication to education, I want to be sure that as they grow, more adjectives can be added to the list to describe them. There is no limit to who or what they can be. Ultimately, when they are asked to describe themselves, the first word spoken should be inspirational.
My Project
Having ink for our classroom printer will give my scholars the ability to print materials in color, for classroom display, as well as allow students to see their work in full color instead of black and white. My students will have the ability to print photos they take in the classroom and around the school building; as well as computer generated images. Having colored paper will give students the abilty to choose to print assignments and posters on paper other than white.
If my students are able to print small assignments in the classroom in color, they will be able to share their work with their families by taking them home, and with the rest of the school by displaying their computer generated assignments on the classroom bulletin board.
