Our students are some of the most amazing special education students that you'd ever meet. Our classes are a language and learning disabilities, self-contained class. School closures have separated students from teachers, counselors, and other staff members who can support them during important developmental transitions. Despite these circumstances, our students are doing their best to learn from home and we want to reward them.
Covid 19 has really impacted all of my students and despite their variety of circumstances they try their best to log on ready to learn and add to the class on a daily basis.
Due to the coronavirus students and teachers alike are stuck home. Students have mentioned that they are bored and miss coming to school every day. They miss interacting with peers and staff alike.
To say that this year has been emotional, hectic, and challenging as a teacher is an understatement. Now imagine facing all those things as a special education student where we focus on the able and not the label. In the midst of it all, our students and families have been a priority. Despite everything going on in the world today, we are keeping up the good fight, keeping our vision and mission the same, and continuing to get our students to produce quality work.
Providing these shirts and water bottles as incentive helps restore the true spirit of seeing our students happy from a distance while motivating them.
These items will also help keep our students hydrated and motivated, letting them know they're "Too Smart to Be Sus". This is a unique opportunity for us to help our students and meet their needs beyond the classroom in a meaningful way while providing a rich REMOTE LEARNING experience that may help them navigate future transitions.
