Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Our school is located in the Logan Square neighborhood in Chicago. My students include diverse learners, English language learners, and many come from low-income households. This year, I see students in grades 1st, 2nd, 5th, and 7th with various learning and functional needs.
My students love to learn, think, and problem solve.
As they decode in becoming fluent readers, to the steps they take in working through math equations, to trying to help me get my picky eating toddler to eat bananas (banana noodles, by the way); they are always excited and eager to learn. My students are the innovative, problem-solving thinkers that our future needs.
My Project
As a special education co-teacher, I have to be able to move from class to class, both virtually and in person. The portability of an iPad along with all of the state-of-the-art teaching capabilities will make movement (virtual and in-person) practical. The potential for a seamless transition between all the various schedule changes and classroom changes would give me the platform to be an impactful educator.
This iPad will help all my students better navigate eLearning during this unprecedented time in education.
The accessories are particularly helpful as learning will take place both in-person and remotely, and I want to be able to broadcast my screen both virtually and through a projector with the use of the adapter.
Working with six different classes from grades first through seventh as a co-teacher, my content will impact 150 students that will have access to what I broadcast on the screen. Students will also benefit from the use of the notepad app and the Apple pen so I can broadcast a whiteboard which is used almost daily in math instruction. I will also be able to present books and text for those that I teach literacy to. I will also be able to access and share schedules and checklists for those students that I am working with on their independent functioning goals.
As a special education teacher, this iPad will also help in goal monitoring and data tracking. It will enable me to access students' individual educational plans, schedules, and goals to meet their educational needs. It will allow me to get rid of paper-pencil assessments, giving me the opportunity to monitor students on a more frequent basis, with faster results and data; allowing for immediate tracking, remediation, and intervention.
