Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students live in the city of Chicago. This is a low income/high poverty neighborhood. My students come to school every day full of life, ready to learn and curious about the world despite the hardships most of them face outside the school walls. 99% of students at our PreK-8 elementary school receive free breakfast and lunch. My students' population is predominately Hispanic and African American.
Even when faced with challenges, my students love learning in school!
When entering First Grade, 76% of my students are performing lower than National State Standards in Math and Reading. Even though my students make some amazing gains we are always looking for ways for all students to meet benchmark goals in all areas of learning.
My Project
Help bring some color into our every day learning. The toner will be used to captivate my students with colorful resources for learning in literacy and math. This project will allow me to send colorful take-home books for my students to practice reading at home. Whether we are learning at home or in school student's I will be able to provide my student's with colorful engaging resources to use where ever they learn. As this year has been filled with many uncertainties, one thing remains constant and that is that learning should always be a fun experience.
