My Students
The new school year is near and it's time to prepare for this learning journey with the students. Yes, educators can learn from students too! There are surprises, laughter, logical strategies and trust all rolling along on an unpredictable track. My students believe in their own ability to learn new things. It's the little things that make all the difference to them throughout life and in the classroom. My students live in a high-poverty neighborhood with plenty of obstacles, all while facing dire situations. They strive towards greatness through the toughest times while holding their heads high. Our students display a high level of perseverance throughout these trying times. Students have to deal with problems that are too overwhelming for most adults. The students come from all different backgrounds. The majority of students reside in homes where there are economic struggles and little to no resources. They desperately want to learn and just need the tools to do so.
My Project
I am requesting a new computer so students will be able to access apps that reinforce skills and enable higher-level learning. A computer will help students who are kinesthetic and visual learners open up the doors of education and individualize learning experiences.
The computer will become a tool that will help create more authentic learning experiences as well as build twenty-first-century skills that our children need in order to be successful in a quickly evolving technical world.
My students will be able to work on writing, reading, learning phonemic awareness skills, working with math manipulatives, and more. They will be able to create both independent and collaborative projects in order to show true understanding of concepts.
Computers are an integral and amazing tool that should be be present at every school in America.
Without consistent access to technology, my students are not able to access 21st century skills. I believe that they should not be held back because of lack of funds, but deserve to explore and learn on the same level as students who have this access. Our learning will be forever changed by the addition of new computers. All students will be able to access learning through technology on a daily basis - amazing!
