Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students are amazing and resilient. Many are immigrants or from immigrant families. Many are affected by being homeless and by neighborhood violence, but come to school every day ready to learn. In a neighborhood where violence is an everyday part of life, school becomes so much more than just a place to learn. The students in my classroom recognize the value of an education as a means to a positive future and, hopefully someday, a safer community as well.
My students are English language learners in an urban neighborhood.
School is their safe haven and a place where they can focus on a positive future. They are eager to learn and take pride in the investment of others in their education.
My Project
This Tree ID project will allow my students to learn all about trees. Students will learn the science of trees and create their own tree identification guide. We will collect leaves to identify and add to our guide. We will then plant our own bonsai trees to culminate our project. Learning about trees hands-on will make for a fun and unique learning experience for my students. Being able to grow and care for their own tree will give the lesson even more relevance and meaning. These project boxes are a great learning experience for my budding scientists.
