Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students live in a low-income/high-poverty urban school district. Their experiences are limited. They are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom, with challenges including emotional trauma, a high mobility rate, and many other special needs.
Many of them are being raised in single-parent households, and 99% receive free lunch and breakfast.
My students are 70% Hispanic and 30% African-American. I have several ELL students in my class as well as special needs students. The majority of my students are far below the national and state standards in reading and math.
My Project
A second monitor has become essential for teachers now. After working from home and having multiple windows open during lessons, I feel having a second monitor at school is necessary.
Many of my lessons include video components and having a monitor where we can watch an educational documentary or use our subscription to Discovery Education would look great on a large television.
I plan to use this monitor to have the students use as well as when we edit student-made videos. For now, during this time of hybrid education, my students have to stay in their seats. The monitor will help my students see the other half of the class when some students are at home.
