Help me give my students books including My First Fairy Tales, Karma Wilson’s Bear series, the Click Clack books, the Otis the Tractor books, and The Snowy Day to be used in in seat and possible virtual learning.
My diverse pre-kindergarten students are curious, creative, adventurous, boisturious, and motivated to learn! They are eager to immerse in new learning experiences and opportunities to explore the world around them. They use our dramatic play areas and materials, sensory and art materials, and learning toys to expand their world of knowledge.
I strive to create an engaging, creative, safe, and fun classroom that promotes learning as well as cognitive, social, and emotional development.
My Project
Literacy is the foundation of learning. Books are the backbone of literacy. Books are powerful tools in painting beautifully descriptive pictures and stories that encourage and develop language and promote critical thinking.
Books can teach a young child valuable lessons, from the parts of a story, to the development of characters, to predicting the next step in the story, to language development, and so much more.
I’m developing lesson plans around themes like farm, which will use the assorted Doreen Cronin books like Click, Clack Moo and Click Clack, Good Night, and Loren Long Otis series, which will be used for in seat or distance/virtual learning. I am also developing a fairy tale unit which will utilize the First Fairy Tale series including, The Gingerbread Man, The Three Billy Goats Gruff, Little Red Riding Hood and Chicken Little.
The books in this project will be used in interactive read alouds that can be in person or virtual. The Snowy Day books will be part of a take home project planned for this winter which will allow each student to have a forever book with activities planned around it.
The addition of these books will allow me to expand and develop new curriculum full of fun and learning!
