I teach at a high poverty school where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch! I have high expectations that they will grow and learn beyond what is expected.
School is a safe and happy place for my students.
Each day, they come into the classroom excited about the day and spending time exploring and learning together. For many of my students, being at school is the best part of their day.
My Project
OSMO has created unique learning tools that combine the best of both these worlds…traditional manipulatives and technology through the use of iPads and specially designed apps. Part of the power of OSMO is its ability to reach the various modalities of learning: visual, auditory, and tactile. Students can work individually or collaboratively engaging in rigorous activities that reinforce classroom objectives in the areas of addition, subtraction, measurement, and estimation.
When the students use Osmo, the learning takes on a whole new excitement.
The students are learning with fun hands-on material. Math Wizard Magical Workshop is perfect for first graders learning place value using base ten blocks, addition, and subtraction, which are the largest portions of the curriculum in first grade. Math Wizard Secrets of The Dragons is a game to learn measurement and estimation, which would be so helpful for students to learn using hands-on fun games and activities to strengthen these difficult concepts.
