My students attend school in the heart of Missouri. 100% of our students participate in the free and reduced meal program. Our students come from diverse ethnic backgrounds and encounter various daily challenges that include: unemployment, incarceration, homelessness, hunger, and poverty.
My prekindergarten students are inquisitive and eager to learn!
They enjoy singing and participating in activities that involve building and actively discovering with their classmates. I want all of my students to feel safe while having fun, active, and multi-sensory experience in school!
My Project
Research reports the importance of having various text types in early childhood settings. Types of texts that are key to expose students to from an early age include narratives that have characters, settings, problems, solutions, events, as well as informational, or nonfiction texts that convey information about the natural and social worlds.
Students who are motivated to read and who enjoy reading are more likely to engage in literacy activities.
These requested books and magazines represent various literary genres that will appeal to the varied interests of my students. Scholastic magazines include digital resources that can enhance student engagement and skill-building. Students will use the requested art materials to complete literacy-based art projects.
