My Students

"If you can dream it, you can do it." is a philosophy that the learners in my classroom leave with. When they first come to my kindergarten classroom, some of them come with no educational background. They know zero letters, no numbers and they may not even be able to write their own name. We spend time together as a class, building an environment where it is encouraged to take chances, explore, and make mistakes. They will be the first to tell you that making mistakes just means you're learning.

Kindergarten students are natural thinkers and problem solvers when we, as teachers, allow them to be.

My Project

My students need sets of leveled readers to learn how to read, using materials that are at their level, in order for them to build confidence and a feeling of accomplishment. My hope is that my students will be able to become fluent readers and continue to grow as learners.

With these Pioneer Valley leveled books, I will continue working with my students in small reading groups to guide them in becoming better readers.

Being in a small group setting with other students that are at similar reading levels will give students an opportunity to grow and learn in an environment that is supportive and encouraging.
