Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My class has very few students that have ever traveled outside of the state - and many never outside of our small city.

Because of my kids' lack of background knowledge of the geography and cultures of other states, it is especially important to introduce them to the states while encouraging interest and involvement. As they begin their research of the states I need something to "hook em" and help them take ownership of their state.

My students love the The Discover America State by State series. They use beautiful artwork, read-aloud rhymes and appealing expository text to spotlight the history, landmarks, events and people that make each state unique. These books will make the dry encyclopedia information that they will later research really hold meaning for them.

Your donation will help open up this wonderful country of ours to my students. You will make it possible for them to gain appreciation and knowledge of the United States of America.
