My Students

When I step in front of my classroom at the beginning of the day and look at my students, I know that a great day awaits me. My students greet me with smiles, questions, and eager faces; they are ready to learn, and I am ready to teach them all that I can.

My students are incredible, curious, adept, and capable learners.

My students speak different languages (over 19 languages at our school) and all have tremendous talent to share with each other. My students jump into their daily learning with zeal. They work together, laugh together, learn together, and share everything in their classroom community.

My Project

4th Grade students at our school will be immersed in a world of science! With our school shifting its curriculum to be more science focused, a whole world awaits 4th grade students. As they put on their junior lab coats and get out their microscopes, students will get more science experiences this year. The new school year will bring biology, life science, physical science, and earth science into the classroom. My students need the tools and books to bring science vividly and readily into our classroom.

Let's give students the tools they need to discover science on a daily basis!

With prepared microscopic slides, students will examine extraordinary things, like the seams of a leaf or small organisms in pond water! The science books will help them try new experiments! With experiment kits demonstrating solar energy, wind energy, and even potato powered clocks, students can use the scientific method to understand the world around them. Imagine students observing and collecting data on plants that they grow in their own classroom greenhouse! Students peering at thermometers (mercury-free) to measure changes in temperature, exploring our solar system using a model, creating a climate-change simulation, and recording data. When terms get complex, students can have a look at a Science Visual Guide to quickly look up scientific terms they need to complete their Cornell notes.

My goal is to create a science focused curriculum using these tools and books. I want to create a STEAM classroom (Science Technology Engineering Art Mathematics) where students can be scientists each day and have fun while they learn! Please support this project to help my fourth graders have the tools they need for a science-filled year! Thank you!
