Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at our school are behind due to a lack of technology in our entire school. My students need science lab equipment in order to conduct more hands on experiments to better understand the science concepts. These supplies will enable them to catch up with the curve.

My children come from a high poverty area.

Our school does not have the funds to supply the students with the adequate materials to conduct experiments. Hands on experiments are required for them to better understand the science concepts. To better assist these students and prepare them for a better future, I generally have to use my personal funds to purchase items needed for experiments, which limits the amount of experiments that we can complete.

My Project

If the supplies are received, my students will be given the opportunity to complete hands on activities using the butterfly nursery, graduated cylinders, hand lenses, microscopes, eyedroppers, measuring tapes and slides. This will give them the ability to become fluent with basic science skills that will help them to be successful in their later science courses.

Science is an important part of these young children's lives.

It is imperative that they be given opportunities to create a solid foundation in the basics of science, to ensure that they will be successful in their later years of education. If this foundation is not created, these students will struggle in the years to come.
