This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My Students

Our students look forward to learning, creating, and making connections in Art each week.

Our Title I school has a low-income population with over 90% of our students receiving free or reduced lunch and breakfast. They also receive a snack of fresh fruit or vegetables daily.

Our school celebrates a multicultural climate through programs and events celebrating our diverse heritage. We have many students that are learning English as a second language. In art they can express themselves and thrive.

My Project

My Project

I am requesting two bean bag chairs to create a cozy reading area for students to read from the art classroom library.

I believe that such a comfortable “book nook” can help achieve our district goals of improving reading proficiency.

Books will be read by my students. Book buddies can read together about the artists that we are studying. Early finishers of art projects can take better advantage of the time by reading. I can also imagine students reading to one another, especially to support our English language learners. Students can also read separately and share about what they read with the class.
