My Students

My classroom is a thriving, positive, energy-filled group of second graders.

They are full of curiosity and tackle challenges head-on with little fear of failure. They collaborate to solve problems, and we work daily on understanding the "Power of Yet." My students learn resilience, and understand that instead of goals being too hard, they just haven't mastered them yet!

My students come from a variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. While many races and languages are represented, we focus on respecting one another, learning about and celebrating what makes us unique, and finding what we have in common as we work together to learn.

My Project

Classrooms today are filled with dynamic students who need to move! Many students struggle to sit still and focus in class, just as many of us adults struggle to sit through meetings ourselves. These balance ball seats not only help students to remain focused and engaged, but also help improve posture and balance, creating healthy minds and bodies! By having 10 balance ball seats, students will have a choice of sitting in a traditional chair or balance seat. Those students who need to move more in order to learn can use the balance balls for permanent seating while others may choose to use the seats periodically. This gives the students some control over their own learning, as well as keeping them active and engaged.
