My Students

Many of my students are plagued with food-related, health issues brought on by a culture that embraces high fat and high sugar, convenience foods that contain little to no nutritional value. I love my students, therefore, I enjoy sharing my healthy lifestyle and eating choices. Each and every day, the students exhibit a high level of energy and ability to see multiple perspectives on any given topic, therefore, I look forward to engaging these young adults who are eager to improve their eating habits.

I love how my students, many of whom are food insecure, challenge me to find ways to motivate them to see beyond their struggles and embrace healthy eating choices.

My Project

My food and nutrition students have worked hard planting a garden at school, and now we need the necessary tools to prepare delicious foods to eat! My students will learn to plan and prepare healthy foods from farm to table while practicing safe and efficient food safety and sanitation skills in a controlled and supervised environment. Students will be able to apply the skills learned in class experiences to real life situations. Not only will my students be able to cook healthy meals for themselves and their families, they will be able to apply their newly learned knife skills to future career situations in the culinary arts field!
