My Students
As a teacher in a Title I school, my students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
They like to move, they love to read, and they love lots of positive attention.
From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential and growth, educationally and mentally. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hoping to inspire our deserving learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My Project
As a reading teacher, I love to see my kids want to read and CONTINUE to read. I have noticed that when we read the first book in a series together as a class, most of them continue on throughout the series on own.
Having different series of books with many different genres will provide a pathway for my students to continue reading.
I am so excited to request a 1-10 set of Hank the Cowdog! Hank is a big hit in our room so having them here for easy access will be great. We read "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" together so having the series will transition them on to the next books on their own easily. Marvel is also very popular right now and talked about often in my room. My kids agree that books have way more info than movies so I believe these will barely get any rest on the shelf!
