Keep the Learning Going: STEM Materials for the Computer Lab
Help me give my students STEM materials such as magnetic building blocks and geostix that they can use to continue learning in my classroom even when computers aren't available due to testing or other unexpected reasons.
My students are inquisitive and excited to learn about the world around them. As the computer teacher, I currently serve all of the kindergartens through 2nd-grade students at my elementary school. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and are on a variety of learning levels, but they all come to school with an innate desire to learn. My students are interested in technology and “how things work”, so they love coming to my class each week to learn something new.
My Project
My students love to come to the computer lab, but there are times when the classes come and they can't use computers. One example of this is during our benchmark testing three times a year. They take a test on the computer, then have 15-30 minutes left of their class time that we need to fill with fun and educational activities.
We need a variety of STEM materials to use when computers aren't available.
I need resources that I can use during these times to keep the learning going in my classroom, even if my students aren't on computers. I am requesting several STEM materials and a few books that are STEM-related so that I can give my students something to do that they will love and that they will learn from.
