Our 3rd grade students attend an elementary school in Brooklyn, New York. For many of our students English is their second language. They have been working hard to become stronger readers. Everyday they read for at least 30 minutes. They also conduct book talks to encourage others to read their favorite books. Our students work with their peers to complete many of their instructional activities. Group work allows them to build their understanding of the English language and their understanding of the instructional concept.
My Project
Many of the students are English language learners. We often use computers to complete activities throughout the day. For example, students use padlet and book creator to reflect on their learning. Students also make books with pictures to help them learn unfamiliar academic vocabulary. With the printer students can print and share their work with their peers. They can learn about different topics from one another. Our entire grade shares computers so they are not always assessable. With this printer, students can share their projects and teach their peers. They will not have to rely on sharing their work on the computer.
