My Students

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read about our project! We have two 3rd grade classes in our building. There are two teachers in the 3rd grade Integrated Co-Teaching Class. We have a full-time general education teacher as well as a full-time special education teacher in class all day to meet the needs of our very diversified class. We also have a second 3rd grade class with one general education teacher. For the 2020-21 school year, we have 50 students in our classes (plus 3 teachers and 1 paraprofessional).

Our students are curious, hard-working and excited learners.

We have a grade full of superstars! The students that will be in our in classes this year are helpful, caring and understanding. These students have had a tough year and half with COVID restrictions. Half of them have been learning at home since March of 2020, and the other half have spend part of that time in school anywhere from 2-5 days per week. This year, the plan is to have them all in-person everyday. It will be quite the adjustment. These students deserve all the best!

My Project

Having access to both the print and digital versions on StoryWorks Magazine will provide the 3rd graders an abundance of fun reading material! StoryWorks is a publication that we use each year in the 3rd grade to enhance our curriculum and keep it current and exciting. StoryWorks magazine has current events, non-fiction stories, science, social studies, technology articles as well as plays and poems. The kids LOVE this magazine.

Having the digital format is especially important in the time of COVID, because if a student has to quarantine or if the class must pivot to remote learning on a dime, we will be able to assign work through this platform.

They can also access this anytime at home to supplement their reading. We use this publication all year and refer back to previous articles, depending on what we are studying in class. Due to the pandemic and loss of jobs that many of the families are struggling with, we are trying to not ask the families to pay for any additional materials. This is why we need your help!
