My Students

My classroom is full of curious readers, authors, scientists and mathematicians. My students attend a public school in Oakland, California with a school-wide, free breakfast and lunch program. Many of my students come from families and communities that have experienced some form of trauma and often have difficulty coming to school. Our school has an increasing amount of newcomer families which continue to make our school an amazing and diverse community where all are welcome.

My students are survivors and thinkers, who push through these challenges to question, dream and inspire.

Together, we show up and work hard each and every day to grow as life-long learners and critical thinkers.

My Project

After a year-and-a-half of distance learning, we are thrilled to be back in person! With this exciting transition comes a lot of preparation, supplies, and planning. The whiteboards, pencils, expo markers and more will help support our students in feeling prepared and ready to dig back in to in-person learning!

This project will serve all of the third graders at Emerson, who are all thrilled to be back in classes with their friends.

We are also embarking on rolling out a brand new English and Language Arts curriculum. This is another very exciting change for our district. To help with this shift, we need a new set of picture books to support our scholars with this new curriculum! These books will excite our third graders and engage them in our new ELA units. These materials will help create a seamless transition back to classes and will be used across content levels and throughout the school year! Thank you for your support!
