Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students' goal is to independently read for 200 hours every school year. Throughout the lower grades, they have built their stamina and are looking forward to a wider variety of books in 3rd and 4th grade.

My 3rd and 4th grade special education students are hard workers who are well on their way to becoming lifelong readers.

This wonderful group of students attend a public school in a high-needs neighborhood in the Bronx in which over 90% of students receive free or reduced lunch. Their favorite part of the day is independent reading time. However, they are looking for more high-interest books on their level so that they may read a variety of texts.

My Project

Our classroom during independent reading is characterized by a high level of engagement. Whenever new books are introduced to my students, they are excited and cannot wait to read these books! With the books requested, students will be able to complete author studies about their favorite authors and series. Additionally, students will be able to independently apply reading skills to these new books to increase their reading ability.

These books will help to create a literacy-rich environment in our classroom.

Students will love having a wider selection of interesting books on their level. Your donation will have a positive impact on many students' lives.
