Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

My students are creative, clever and very spontaneous.

I like my classroom to be a hands-on, fun learning environment.

When you walk into my classroom you immediately see learning occurring. Children are engaged in small groups projects, building interesting structures with blocks, and determining what sinks and what floats at the water table. I like to ask questions, pointing out children's successes and guiding learning. I want my room to have a sense of purpose, organization, and excitement.

My Project

Having these new materials will help my students to be exposed to different types of instruments from other countries. Living in the Bronx I would like to have them listen and use different instruments to increase their knowledge about music.

There are many benefits that music provides haven been thoroughly researched and proven via the Mozart Effect.

Children who are consistently exposed to musical experiences gain neural connections that help with brain development and cognitive thinking. It has been proven that this exposure helps them do better in areas such as reading and math, helps them gain better control of their bodies, aids in focusing, promotes higher self-esteem and emphasizes teamwork.
