Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

My students are creative, clever and very spontaneous.

I like my classroom to be a hands-on, fun learning environment.

When you walk into my classroom you immediately see learning occurring. Children are engaged in small groups projects, building interesting structures with blocks, and determining what sinks and what floats at the water table. I like to ask questions, pointing out children's successes and guiding learning. I want my room to have a sense of purpose, organization, and excitement.

My Project

We all know that three years old are curious and observant, and they want to be competent in the skills that their families and society value — such as reading the instructions for assembling a toy, or selecting the correct bills or coins to pay for a purchase. To prepare my students for the academic demands of kindergarten, I need to teach them early and offer a wide variety of games and activities that will help them to acquire the pre- math and literacy skills in a comfortable warm space.

These materials that I would like to receive will help my students and enhance their classroom experience.

Our library area will have all the necessary comforts of home to encourage exploration and discovery. Help my students become the best leaders that they can be in the Bronx.
