My Students

We are a Title 1 school. My students get free and reduced lunch. My students are eager to learn. They want to be in school everyday because they want to learn and do their best. Despite the many hardships they eyes lit up when they are introduced to new and fun ways of learning. They have great interest in hands-on-learning and challenging activities.

They are inventors, innovators, problem solvers, future engineers and scientists.

Their world evolved from art and craft, drawing, creating and designing. Now it time to take them into the 21st century. I want to give my students the best experience with a 3D printer so they can fully develop their skills through STEAM.

My Project

Students will be using the 3D printer and accompanying filament to create models for their projects. This printer will be used mostly with students who are doing Project Based Learning. With this 3D printer students can design and create a 3D model to present their project to an audience within the school and community. This printer will allow students to use 21 st century technology skills to practice their design and engineering skills. Students will have the opportunity to see their own ideas come to life and make something tangible for a project that addresses a problem present in some of the communities they inhabit.

This project would significantly help my students' understanding of the design cycle.

Students would see the process connect to a final product, relevant to themselves and impacting the world for better. Students can practice using design technology and experience careers related to it: architecture, graphic design, modeling and engineers. In the end, they will be problem-solvers, empowered to take the skills and knowledge in their class to improve their lives and those of people around them.
