My Students

My classroom is an interactive studio where students come and explore technologies and problem solving. Our goal is to have a maker studio space where students can come freely and make whatever the could possible imagine. A robot, sure! Explore projectile motion, let's build a trebuchet.

My students are a unique collection of suburban America.

I have, all in the same class, drama kids, athletes, 4.0 students, special needs students, students who have to work to support their families, truly the whole spectrum of kids. The classes that I teach are un-leaved and mixed classes, this means that an AP honors student works along side a special education student. This creates for the most unique working environment where each student is learning not only about technology but also something about themselves.

My Project

For the last several years I have been teaching students how to design and draw 3D on the computer using a program called Inventor. My students have been able to design amazing pieces of art, architecture, mechanics, and engineer. However, the lack of equipment has forced us to only design out these projects. A MakerBot 3D printer would dramatically change the face of my classroom. Students would be able to print, edit, and touch the projects they have been working so hard on. STEM education is one of the greatest things we can provide for our students. It is more than a class, it is a way to see how the world works. I want to provide this opportunity for my students and I believe that this printer will do just that.

It can be difficult for a student to see how things work and imagine creating something new.

This printer allows students to imagine and see. This MakerBot 3D printer will open opportunities to them that we could only have dreamed about. Look at the world today how many things are 3D printed, what will be 3D printed in the future? Lets provide the best possible future for our students by teaching them today what they will need for tomorrow.
