My Project

In our 5th-grade STEM classroom, students thrive on hands-on learning and real-world problem-solving. With an up-to-date 3D printer, my students will have the opportunity to bring their creativity to life—designing, prototyping, and producing their own 3D models. This technology will transform their learning experience, giving them a glimpse into the future of engineering, design, and manufacturing. Our class will use TinkerCAD, an industry-standard 3D design program, to create digital models before printing them as physical objects. Through this process, students will learn:

The science of 3D printing—how layers of material build objects from the ground up.

The engineering design process—from brainstorming to prototyping and refining their designs.

The real-world applications of 3D printing are in fields like medicine, architecture, and space exploration.

Having an up-to-date 3D printer will ensure that students can see their ideas take shape with better precision, faster printing times, and more reliability. This tool will allow for more engaging, hands-on learning experiences that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and STEM career exploration.
