My Students

My students are special needs students in a ICT setting. They are creative, thoughtful and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!

Many students in my classroom come in saying they have difficulty completing practice assignments at home because of lack of supplies and resources.

Our school is nestled in the heart of Brooklyn, which was once surrounded by Brighton Beach.

Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!

My Project

I will use the 3D printer and filament to be able to see my lesson ideas come to life. Our professional idea is to create a 3D museum exhibit of how the landscape around our school has changed, we are partnering with a program called History by Design to strengthen our teaching style. 3D printers can be integrated into every subject for hands-on activities for my special ed students. Students will be able to succeed in the classroom by using the technology to create projects and design using the 3D printer. A 3D printer will assist my students with being more engaged in the classroom and help them develop the skills to design on a computer. A 3D printer will make technology relevant, interesting, and exciting as my students create designs and see them come to life. This professional development idea is a great idea to help prepare our students for the future.
