3D Printer Myth Creations

Help me give my students a 3D Printer so that they have the resources to create artifacts found in the world of mythology.

My Project

We are looking for a Grant ($500) to be able to purchase a 3D Printer and support design programs and accessories to implement into our Mythology courses. The class is designed to survey the World of Mythology.

Over the past couple of years teaching Mythology, I have realized that the inclusion of appropriate technology, online platforms, digital media, and creative hands-on tools are becoming an essential part of learning and keeping my students engaged in the course content.

With the grant money, I hope to use the 3D printers in my classroom to aid in engaging my students in the content of the course and encourage them to use their creativity and curiosity to challenge the mythical creations that we read about in mythology. For example, I want to create projects that will challenge my students to create things such as; the wings in the myth about Daedalus and Icarus, King Midas’ labyrinth, a realistic Thor’s hammer, or the Egyptian pyramids. With the resources of having 3D printers in my classroom, my students will have the ability to explore mythology in a more creative, interactive, and meaningful perspective, which will give students the motivation to value and take ownership of what they are learning.

The students and teachers at my school site aim for the stars and want to make a meaningful contribution to our students, school, and surrounding community. The ability to add technology into our classrooms will give teachers and students the possibility to foster their curiosity, creativity, and world perspective. Education gives our students purpose, a personal connection, and a sense of belonging to the school community. For this reason, we are applying for this grant in hopes of purchasing a 3D printer to continue to create an exceptional and challenging course.
