My Project

Each year my 6th grade art students are tasked with creating 3-dimensional animals using 3D pens, and every year we have pens break and filament run out.

It’s unfortunate and disheartening to see students not able to finish their projects.

This year I am trying my best to avoid running out of materials.

My students are given the opportunity to have a free day for the first day of the project. They use this day to become familiar with the 3D pen and learn how to build up rather than draw flat objects. Through experimentation the students begin coming up with ideas for their 3D pen animals.

The creative process is very different for all students. There is no right or wrong way, but this project does require a lot of time AND a lot of filament! With these extra pens and filament it safeguards my students ability to finish this amazing project and be proud of the finished product.
