Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project's main goal is to support visually impaired and special education students in our school. The initiative will be led by a student club proficient in 3D printing technology, fostering collaboration between a diversity of peers, all while enhancing learning outcomes for everyone involved.

Students with full or partial visual impairments, as well as students with special needs, in every inclusive classroom, will help reach the curriculum.

A 3D printer will allow for us to do these things for years to come (!):

- Create tactile models for all classes enabling hands-on learning and spatial understanding. Below are a few ideas within a variety of classes:

Science: cell organelles, chromosomes, DNA models, human organs, periodic table, land forms, and molecules

Math: Geometric shapes, tactile bar graphs, pie charts, and histograms

Music: Raised musical notation or Braille sheet music and musical instruments to explore their shapes and features

- Produce customized Braille materials and tactile markers to aid navigation and communication.

Equity Focus

At this school, more than 50% of students are Black, Latino, and/or Native American, and more than 50% come from low-income households. Learn how your donation to this school supports a more equitable education.
